Robb was one of the founding members of Forbidden(Called Forbidden Evil when they first got together) along with Russ Anderson and Craig Lociscero. He was part of the line up who recorded their first demo back in 1986, with Robb writing the song ‘Chalice Of Blood' which appears on Forbidden's first album Forbidden Evil. The song should be checked out by those who want to hear Robb's musical idea's at the very beginning of his career.

He joined Vio-lence in 1987 and enjoyed some big success, with their debut album Eternal Nightmare selling 30,000 copies. He went on to make 2 more albums and an EP with Vio-lence, and tour the USA . It is said that Robb left vio-lence to change musical direction, as his songs(which would go on to be some of Machine Head's songs) went unappreciated in Vio-lence.

Robb had known of Logan Mader, and Logan introduced him to Adam Duce at some house party. Apparently Adam was really drunk and when he went to shake Robb's hand he spilt beer over Robb, who in turn wiped it off on Adam's hair!
